Relocation Granted
Lauren recently represented a mother who wished to relocate with her daughter to another state. Under Florida law, any move of a child more than 50 miles from his or her current residence requires the other parent’s consent or an order from the court. Evidence was presented from multiple witnesses that the move would substantially improve the quality of life for the mother and her child. After a contentious trial, the Judge agreed that the relocation was in the best interest of the child and would not diminish the child’s relationship with her father. The request to relocate the child was granted.
